Google Introduces Anti-Stalking Feature for Android Devices

Google has made an important step towards user safety by introducing “Unknown Tracker Alerts,” a new safety feature initially presented at Google I/O, the company’s developer conference.

The primary goal of this functionality is to identify potential stalkers who may be monitoring people using Bluetooth tracking devices like Apple AirTags. The tracking alerts feature is finally being gradually sent out to users.

The introduction of this functionality resolves a critical issue with Apple’s AirTags. Although Apple first built an anti-stalking function to prevent AirTags from being used to watch individuals, many revisions were necessary over time.

While iPhone users may receive notifications about strange AirTags in their vicinity through the “AirTag Found Moving With You” feature, Android users were left out unless they were aware of Apple’s Android-based “Tracker Detect” programme.

Android smartphones will now notify users instantly if an unexpected Bluetooth tracker is discovered travelling with them apart from its owner. By pressing the notice, users may display a map of the tracker device’s location. Then, using the “Play sound” option, you may command the tracker to make a sound to help you locate the device.

It is worth mentioning that both Apple and Google took this measure to ensure people’s safety. To address the issue of Bluetooth device tracking, the business stated that it will create an industry-wide specification.

Google’s decision reflects the company’s dedication to user safety and privacy by proactive offering Android users with a key tool to defend against potential stalking and illegal tracking. Android users may now feel more safe knowing that their devices will be equipped with this additional layer of protection whenever it is released.
